Who this is for
This guide is for mechanics, auto electricians, workshop owners and students in India who want to learn car electrical work, ECU/EMS systems and scanner diagnosis from their phone. You do not need a technical degree. If you can use WhatsApp and YouTube, you can use the app.
Why videos alone are not enough
Most technicians have already watched hundreds of repair videos. The problem starts when your own car in the workshop behaves differently from the one in the video. A recorded video cannot answer your question, and it cannot tell you why your reading is 4.2 V instead of 5 V.
That is why a good training app needs two things together: recorded lessons for the basics, and live classes where a trainer clears your doubts on your own cases.
What a good repair training app should have
Before you pay for any course, check that the app gives you:
- Live classes where you can ask your own doubts.
- Practical work on real vehicles, not only slides and theory.
- Fault finding methods, so you find the actual fault instead of swapping parts.
- Your language, in simple words.
- A trainer you can contact directly, not only a support ticket.
- A way to practise testing before you work on a customer's car.
- New content regularly, as vehicles and systems keep changing.
Garage Gyan: training from Car Tool India
Garage Gyan (CTI Training App) is the online training app from Car Tool India, Balaghat, which has supplied diagnostic scanners and tools to Indian workshops since 2016. Classes are taken by Harish Jaiswal, who has 10+ years of hands-on technician experience and has worked in the workshop himself.
The course is built around one idea: we teach what you want to learn. Questions from students decide what the next practical videos will cover.
How a week of learning works
- Monday to Thursday: Premium live classes for students who have bought the course.
- Friday: Free live class, open to everyone.
- Saturday and Sunday: The week's live class videos are edited and uploaded, along with practical videos.
Classes usually happen between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM, after workshop hours. The exact time is sent by notification and SMS. See the full live class schedule.
How your questions become practical videos
- During the week, you ask your questions in the live class.
- The team shoots practical videos on a real vehicle based on those questions.
- The videos are uploaded in the app from Friday to Sunday of the next week.
On top of this, 7–10 new videos are added every month as a new session.

What you will learn
Two courses are available in the app:
- Electrical Master: 8 parts, 75 lessons, about 22 hours. Wiring, relays, fuses, sensors, multimeter testing and fault finding.
- Diagnostic Master: 16 lessons, coming soon. Scanner use, ECU and EMS diagnosis.
Topics include engine ECU, CAN line, OBD port, DTC decoding, wiring diagrams, short to ground and short to positive, and 5V reference faults. Car, truck, petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles are covered in one course.

What is free in the app
You can try a lot before paying anything:
- Student Practice (virtual practice): multimeter testing of relays, fuses, sensors and injectors on your phone. 100% free.
- Recorded videos: watch any time, as often as you like.
- Study material: notes by Harish Jaiswal on engine ECU, CAN line, OBD port and DTC decoding.
- Chat support: ask your doubts in the Chats tab.
- Friday live class.
Every free feature is shown with screenshots in what's free in the app.
